Nowadays, most of Asian people look in to solutions through herbal treatments rather than western

As per our knowledge Medicinal plants can divide in to two categories.
First category medicinal plants can be introduced as commonly available plants at home gardens. Those
plants could help curing of common ailments such as headache, cold, fever, toothache, gum and teeth
diseases, stomach diseases and skin diseases etc. Those disorders easily overcome by using first
category medicinal plants such as Aloe, Ginger verities, Turmeric, Citronella(lemongrass), Lemon,
Kathurupila (Tephrosia purpuyea), Wel bebila (Sida cordata), Pavetta (Adhatoda vasica) and Akmella
(Spilanthes paniculate) which are popular among village people. Sri Lankan have first-hand experiences
from their forefathers.
Second category medicinal plants are mostly available in jungles. Most of them are endemic and native
plants to Sri Lanka and South East Asia. Ayurvedic doctors utilize plant leaves, flowers, roots and bark of
trunk to cure critical illness such as bone fractures, slip disk on vertebral column, bone disorder
settlements without surgery, eye site problems, snake bites, hair fall treatments and beauty culture etc.
So, we are requesting from our visitors to go through the literature at our park and identify the
medicinal power of them.

When consumed prior to a sugary food or beverage, gymnemic acid blocks the sugar receptors on your taste buds. Gymnema sylvestre can also block receptors in your intestines and thus sugar absorption, lowering your post-meal blood sugar levels. The atomic arrangement of gymnemic acid molecules is similar to that of glucose molecules. It is also used in the treatment of asthma, Obesity, eye complaints, cough, malaria, inflammations, Increasing urine excretion (diuretic) and snakebite.
The most ancient proof of cotton industry in Sri Lanka is the fact that at the time of the arrival of prince Vijaya, Kuveni had pretended to be a cotton thread spinner for about 2000 years ago. Cotton is one of the most important economic fiber crops.Ripen cotton balls bursts into a white, fluffy ball containing cells.Cotton fibres have a wide range of uses including making clothes, stuffing material for pillows and cushions ,surgical products etc. The seeds contain a large amount of oil.Cotton has been used as a traditional herbal medicine for asthma,bronchitis,coughing, throat infections,skin rashes,insect bites, joint pains etc. Tea made from the cotton leaves may be used as a medicine for cough and similar illness.
Tephrosia purpurea has a range of traditional medicinal uses.It is a famous ayurvedic herb used in liver cirrhosis and splenomegly.Roots are used as a tooth brush for mouth sanitation. it is also used for treating dyspepsia, colic, chronic diarrhoea,coughs, blood purifier and as an antihelminthic. All parts of the plant have tonic and laxative properties. A decoction of the fruit is given as a treatment against intestinal worms.A fruit extract is used to relieve bodily pains and inflammatory problems. The herb is commonly grown as a green manure crop in paddy fields and plantation.it is most successful in reducing soil salinity and lowering the pH. Dry plants are collected for fuel.

In ancient twigs of this plant is used as `toothbrushes' in rural. Dried bark powder is taken to control internal bleeding. A decoction of the bark is used to produce yellow,red and Brown dye. It is also used for inflammation, phlegm, asthma,cough, ulcers, skin diseases,bone healing, arthritis,leucorrhoea,diarrhea, and skin discoloration. Antibacterial activity of the plant extract has also been reported.
